Congress Retains "CADILLAC
CARE
While Citizens Get CLUNKER
CARE"-PART II
September
1, 2009
If you attend a town hall meeting
or send any correspondence, here are some questions
you can ask the President, your Senator or Representative:
Congressmen- Is it true what United Small Business
of America says, that section 313 of HR3200 concocts
a tax of up to 8% of the total payrolls of employers
who do not give their workers health insurance?
Congressmen-Is it true, what
United Small Business of America says that section
441 of HR3200 imposes surcharges of 1 % to 5%
on high-income individuals? Can't you see
that this tax and other taxes in this bill create
a $600 billion plus disincentive to higher income
people and an equally valuable inducement to fire
employees?
Congressmen-Is is true, what
United Small Business of America says, that section
1802 of HR3200 empowers the Health and Human Services
Secretary to slap a new, still-undetermined tax
on every health plan in order to finance a new
comparative effectiveness research trust fund?
Mr. President- Since tort reform
would give you tens of billions of dollars in
savings, why have you not talked about those obvious
savings? For example, a neurosurgeon has to pay
about $200,000 a year for malpractice insurance
before he or she even turns on a light or hires
a nurse or secretary.
Mr. President- Isn't it
true that there are billions of dollars lost because
of the hidden costs of defensive procedures that
ALL doctors order for no other reason than to
protect themselves from a lawsuit?
Congressmen-Since government
mandates have never produced the "so-called"
desired results in the history of our country,
on what basis do you believe they will work this
time?
Senator-Can you refute this
statistic: That the Medicare trust fund will be
depleted in 2017 or earlier and that they will
experience a shortfall between $35 trillion and
$45 trillion over the next 50 years. Don't
you believe another huge government program would
be a "fiscal time bomb?"
Senator-Since no country that
has government-controlled health-care has been
able to avoid health-care rationing, what evidence
do you have that suggests we will be able to do
what no other county has been able to do?
Senator- Isn't it true
that Congressional actuaries predicted that Medicare,
which started in 1965, would cost $3.1 billion
by 1970 and they were off about 120%, since the
actual figure came in at $6.8 billion?
Senator-Isn't it true
that Congressional actuaries predicted that Medicare,
which started in 1965, would cost only $9 billion
a year by 1990 and that they were off by an astronomical
700%?? The actual cost was $66.6 billion.
Congressmen-Isn't it true
that Medicaid was created in 1965 to be a last
resort for the poor but now covers more than 1/3
of all long-term care expenses in the United States?
Isn't it also true that its' annual
bill is now up to $227 billion and so far this
year is rising by 17%?
Congressmen-Would you support
a pledge that asked every member of Congress to
read the entire health-care bill before voting
on it and to make the text of the bill available
to the public for 72 hours before a vote?
Congressmen and Senators- Is
this health care plan one that applies to you
also?
